The sensationalization and misrepresentation of mental health has caused so much harm, and continues to in Indian and international cinemas
It's too much atrangi only thing I loved is the Dhanush's acting especially scene were he confesses his love

So I personally believe when people have to deal with such issues it’s fine for family to take call on behalf of the patient. At times the patient is not in a position to decide .
But how does the movie deal with it hereafter is problematic.
The husband and doctor reinforce the illusions by playing along, the doctor gives medicine and each tablet is miraculously shown to hurt the imaginary character and starts working from the moment the first tablet is gulped down. It would have not even reached the stomach not to talk about mixing with blood. From years the patient I know has been on medication, haven’t seen such effect.
The cure is equally dramatic when she realises what is happening in a fully Bollywoodish masala way.
When u have seen a movie like A Beautiful Mind - biopic of mathematician John Nash, u know it’s not that easy. The medication is no miracle. U also realise that Bollywood has to come a long way to deal with sensitive issues in the right way. I wish more research is done before taking up the subjects.
Although there have been interesting and good attempts like “Dear Zindagi “in recent times where mental health is not looked at as black and white. Neither a tragedy or a comedy . We might have loved the “Munna Bhai series” but even there the chemical locha was dealt with in a cutely strange manner.
It’s an issue of the living and all of us have to deal with some locha sometimes in our life. At a bigger or smaller level.
So my appeal to mainstream Hindi cinema would be to take some expert on board when making movies on health , science or medicine.
You will be doing people a favour because there is no better means of propagating an idea than Cinema and you are doing injustice to your own industry and talent by bringing out the frivolity instead of depth on sensitive subjects .
