ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS OF EATING MOLD CHEESE?
Molds are in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some will have no effect, while others will make you really unwell. Hard and semi-soft cheeses, such as cheddar, colby, Parmesan, and Swiss, are often resistant to mould. So you may chop away the mouldy part of the cheese and consume the remainder of it. Around and below the mouldy spot, cut off at least 1 inch (2.5 centimetres). To avoid contaminating other sections of the cheese, keep the knife out of the mould.
However, according to the USDA, certain moulds can cause allergic reactions and respiratory issues. And, under the correct conditions, some molds can develop "mycotoxins," which are deadly compounds that can make you sick or even kill you. However, if you are healthy and eat moldy cheese by accident, it may not have an immediate effect on your health. Nausea and diarrhoea are the most common symptoms, and they are usually only temporary. Itching, skin rashes, headaches, disorientation, unexplainable exhaustion, eye problems (teary eyes, itching, and redness), runny nose, sneezing, and coughing are common signs of mould exposure in vulnerable groups. If these symptoms appear after apparent exposure, see a doctor right away to get properly treated.
CONCLUSION
Cheese is without a doubt one of the most versatile commodities in your refrigerator. It's tasty on its own, and it's a standout in meals like mac and cheese and broccoli-cheddar soup. Cheese, as great as it is, has a flaw: it moulds easily. Moldy cheese is generally safe to consume. You can take the mold off of hard or semi-soft cheeses like Cheddar, Havarti, or Brie and eat them as usual. Fresh cheese is an exception. If mold is forming on a slice of fresh cheese, such as Mozzarella, it must be discarded. Fresh cheeses are designed to be eaten as soon as possible. Other fresh cheeses, such as cottage cheese and Queso Fresco, are also included. But cheeses that are made with intentionally mold in them are not only appetizing but are also rich in nutrients and have major health benefits.
