Cool thread! I love how a simple porcupine can cause a lion so much trouble 🤭
Lion, the king of the jungle. The absolute apex predator is still not safe by some animals defense techniques. In fact, some of these names will surprise you. For one, a porcupine!
Although porcupines are not naturally violent, they will charge back if provoked in order to protect themselves from predators.
Only novice lions who are unaware of how perilous it would be for them would try to attack a porcupine. The incredibly hazardous defense tech nique used by porcupines has been known to kill not only lions but other big cats as well, like leopards.
When threatened, porcupines will raise their quills in a protective position, which will cause the quills to pierce the lion's skin. The barbs will then hold the quill in place while the quill releases from the porcupine's body and remains attached to the lion, inflicting severe pain that could lead to the lion's demise.
