A lot of young kids today tend to not know who this is or have forgotten this bonafide legend of the game.
His international debut was in South Africa’s first game back in the international fold. The ODI against India at Eden Gardens in 1991. He took a fifer including the wicket of Tendulkar.
He made his test debut in SA’s first test after readmission against the Windies in 1992.
He was the first South African to take 300 test wickets.
He picked up a test wicket every 47 balls he delivered.
In 1998 he took 80 test wickets, which is the fourth most by any bowler in a single calendar year in test cricket history, only Warne, Muralitharan and Lillee took more.
He ended up with 330 Test wickets at an average of 22.25, and claimed 272 ODI scalps at an average of 21.78
He must’ve spent a fortune on zinc sunscreen. 🤣
He had an action that was as smooth as silk.
He was bloody fast, hostile and struck fear into most top batsmen. A lot of batsmen from that era have confirmed this.
He is simply one of the greatest pace bowlers of all time.
Ladies and Gentlemen......
