Practising Law at Gurdaspur continues...
A Muslim fakir squatted on it and it was called a Takia where villagers assembled for smoking and travellers could rest. Put up by the local Muslims, the fakir started building a pucca mosque. This led to a suit by the jat proprietors. I was engaged by them and half a dozen Muslim lawyers appeared for the fakir. When the case came for hearing there was great tension between the Hindus and the Muslims. Ultimately I won the case up to the High Court and the mosque was demolished. It was an act of aggression on the part of Muslim fanatics. Hindu-Muslim tensions had already begun.
