Chelsea women beat Reading women 3-0 to confirm their top position finish in the FA Women's Super League. Team and their wonderful coach achieved the feat of being the most successful since the inception of the league in 2010. Sam Kerr scored 2 while Guro Reiten scored the third.
Manchester United finished as 2nd beating Liverpool on the final matchday. Arsenal are the third, also to get a ticket for the Women's Champions League. After the first match loss, Chelsea displayed a strong consistent performance throughout the season. They dropped just 5 points, winning 19 of 22 matches. They gathered 58 points while United fell short of 2 points less.
Aston Villa's Rachel Daly finished as top scorer with 21 goals. Manchester City's Khadija Shaw is second in top scorer list-18 goals. Reading will be relegated while Watford secured promotion with a play off win.
Chelsea are also the FA Cup winners, beating Manchester United 1-0 at Wembley. This finished their third double in succession. The FIFA Best coach award winner Emma Hayes won her 14th major trophy since her arrival at the club in 2012.
"I just look at the pitch and all I see is the years of work in the background. The meetings, the analysis, the disagreements, the good times and the moments you're sick of looking at each other.
"It's all of those things, and when they come off this team has a habit of peaking when it matters." Hayes said.
Chelsea, who had a miserable season in the men's league, will get some comfort with this incredible success of the women's team.
