With the help of two alumni, opportunities for scientific research are going to increase significantly in IIT BHU. There are preparations to build a state-of-the-art laboratory for research on advanced and dynamic materials in the IIT campus. For this, two former students here have donated an amount of 3.65 lakh dollars i.e. 2.90 crores to IIT. With this amount, Vishwashanti Advanced Vibration and Dynamic Materials Testing Laboratory will be built. Rajeev Khanna, Mechanical Engineering student of 1979 batch and CEO of Jenix Technology Inc., had recently visited IIT BHU during the Golden Jubilee Re-union of the 1979 batch. During this, he had announced a donation of US $ 285,000 for the establishment of 'Vishwashanti Advanced Vibration and Dynamic Materials Testing Laboratory'. Metallurgical Science alumnus Ujjwal Nath was also present in the same program. He is the Chairman and CEO of Micarma. He announced to donate 80 thousand US dollars to the institute. It is noteworthy that Shri Nath has so far appointed more than 30 IIT BHU students in his company MyKarma. In Indian rupees this amount becomes approximately 2.90 crores.
