HYPED!!!
The automobile landscape is witnessing a stylish evolution with the launch of the 2024 Suzuki Ertiga Cruise Hybrid in Indonesia. Unveiled at the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024 in Jakarta, this new variant of the Ertiga series introduces a sportier design and an enhanced mild-hybrid powertrain.
Prices start at IDR 288 Million for the manual variant (Rs. 15.3 lakh, Approx), while the automatic variant is pegged at IDR 301 Million (Rs 16 lakh, Approx). In terms of colour options, the Ertiga Cruise Hybrid is offered only in Pearl White + Cool Black dual tone and intensified Cool Black options.
The Ertiga Cruise stands out with its sportier aesthetics, featuring a shorter antenna, sporty front and rear bumpers with under spoilers, side body decal, rear upper spoiler, and notably, LED DRLs absent in the regular Ertiga. These enhancements not only contribute to a more dynamic look but also set a new benchmark for the MPV segment.
Under the hood, the Ertiga Cruise Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, capable of delivering 103bhp and 138Nm of torque, paired with a K15B Smart Hybrid powertrain. A significant upgrade is the introduction of a larger 10ah battery, promising improved fuel efficiency beyond the claim of a little over 20km/l for the Ertiga in India.
Despite the excitement surrounding the launch, the future of the Ertiga Cruise in India remains uncertain. Currently, Maruti Suzuki's Ciaz is the only model in India featuring the K15B Smart Hybrid powertrain setup. Given the declining sedan sales and the lack of recent updates for the Ciaz, it seems unlikely that Maruti Suzuki will adopt the larger battery for the Indian market anytime soon.
Moreover, the introduction of a sportier Ertiga could potentially impact the sales of the XL6, which distinguishes itself with a 6-seater layout and an upmarket design. The balance between sportiness and market dynamics will play a crucial role in deciding the fate of the Ertiga Cruise's features in the Indian lineup.
