Many adults believe this myth that using baby products can give them baby soft skin since they are much gentler and less harsh on the skin.
The truth is - Baby skin differs from adult skin in several basic ways. The most basic skin function, the barrier function, is not fully developed in infants. Baby skin has a thinner upper layer than adult skin. It is more porus as compared to adults. Hence baby skin and hair care formulation is different than adults. Baby moisturizers are high in oil content, They can clog the pores and lead to acne break out. Baby shampoos are very mild, which don't cleanse the scalp throughly. This can lead to increased dandruff, dirt accumulation and hairfall. Additionally, it is important to note that baby products don't contain ingredients which target skin problems as babies don't have them!
Using baby products can cause more harm than good in adults! Those of us with skin issues which need treatment should use specialised skincare which actually treats our grown-up skin troubles and not rely on baby products just because they seem gentler.
