Haaland was substituted after 90 minutes of City's Champions League quarter-final second leg with Real Madrid and Pep Guardiola subsequently revealed that the Norwegian had asked to come off before extra-time as he was not feeling right. The manager went on to confirm that his top scorer was injured ahead of the game with Chelsea.
"He's injured. I don't think it's much but he's not available for today. I don't know [if he will be back for the next game]," Guardiola told the BBC.
Guardiola had said the day before the game that Haaland had felt "a muscular issue" against Madrid but had played down the severity of the injury, putting it down to fatigue. Kevin De Bruyne, who was also forced off before extra-time against Madrid, was named in the starting line-up against Chelsea. Julian Alvarez replaces Haaland in City's attack.
