It's true, it's fairly common.
I have got a fair amount of this as well.
Well, this and the last mentioned part.
The thing is, society still considers the act of sex a taboo. So, anything that adds to that, say roleplay, d/s, or even simple powerplay, is seen as perverse and unnatural.
Modern footwear industry too has contributed to this fixation by making women’s high-heeled shoes fashionable and sexy.
All this makes human feet, the most fetishized non genital body part.
Yet many are embarrassed or even intimidated to share their interest with their partners. This need not be the case. Because when it comes to human sexuality, almost anything and everything between consenting adults is normal.
To know more about it, I talked to Dr Lawrence I Sank, a Harvard trained clinician, co-director of Cognitive Therapy Centre, US and a founding member of VVox.
Dr Lawrence I Sank: Foot fetishism is not something to be ashamed of or embarrassed about. From my clinical experience over the last 50 years, I know there are a lot of women out there who enjoy having their feet adored by their partners.
Foot fetishism is something that can be easily incorporated into foreplay. Just because it is classified as a paraphilia or deviant desire by medical science, it doesn’t make a person abnormal. Paraphilia is an arbitrary designation. For instance, there are so many men who are attracted to women’s breasts. Does that make all of them sexual deviants?
There is also an element of power-play in foot fetishism that can overlap with BDSM (bondage, discipline, sadomasochism). When a person worships the feet, he may perceive himself as more submissive to his partner, who falls into the dominant role. The point is, when it comes to sexual expression, we should focus on self-acceptance and compassion, instead of looking at ourselves as sick or deviant.
