Sky Brown is a British-Japanese skateboarder who competed for Great Britain in the Tokyo Games. Being only 13 years old, she is the youngest athlete to compete for #TeamGB and also the youngest to take home a (bronze) medal for Great Britain. This is an insane comeback from her horrific accident falling 15 feet from a halfpipe ramp while training in California in May of last year which resulted in several skull fractures and breaks to her wrist and hand. After the accident, her parents urged her to consider doing something else besides skating. There was just no separating Sky from her board and a little over a year later she is now an olympic medalist. "I feel the accident made me stronger here. I am happy to be here with these guys,” she said.
Sky started skateboarding at just three years old, following in the footsteps of her English father who also skated and surfed. Sky went professional with skateboarding at just 10 years old. Amongst the list of being the youngest in many things, she is also the youngest Nike sponsored athlete. Sky is a girl of many talents. Besides skateboarding, she’s also a very talented surfer, singer and dancer winning the 27th season of Dancing with the Stars: Junior.
