In our ancient culture, education was not seen as a means to make profit at any cost.
Gurus passed on knowledge to the children and profit was not something we ever associated with education, then.
But today? Education is gamed to gain profit and make money. Is it because we bypassed and buried the values that guided the purpose of knowledge and education?
Are we putting our children into a completely commercialised environment who will treat the people without any compassion or empathy. For an education that was obtained with money, money will be at the forefront.
It is said that in India private school fee per year are in multi billions. Over and above most of the students being sent to private tuitions for every subject which is about another usd 4billion per year(INR 30000 crore)
Is a middle class or a lower class Indian would bear this burden? Is our public sector is so weak that wherever you look around, private sector is taking advantage. It is high time to re-think what we have come to as a people when it comes to education.
You must have heard about an educational business deal had happened on last week , a multi billion valued Indian coaching institute bought another coaching Institute for usd 1.2billion(close to INR 9000crore). How many more we have in India like this ? This shows the way education is coming under the influence of big money. Please think where we are headed?
