Generally, there are no fixed guidelines regarding this. You should avoid flying with your newborn until they are at least 7 days old. But why ?
Air travel (and being in crowded airports) can increase a newborn's risk of catching an infectious disease, as your baby's immune system is poorly developed initially. American Academy of Pediatrics advises against air travel for babies under two or three months of age, unless it is absolutely necessary.
So it is safe to take your baby on a flight after 2 or 3 months of age. This is because for most babies of this age, primary immunization series is already started and also the phase of fussiness/colic has passed, which usually peaks around six weeks.
