"We didn’t deserve to win," Erik ten Hag affer Brentford draw
Manchester United avoided a huge defeat against Brentford on Saturday, as they left the capital with a point. The hosts were all over the Red Devils for the majority of the match, and hit the woodwork on no less than three occasions.
However, for a moment it seemed that Manchester United would leave with all three points when Mason Mount put the ball in the back of the net in stoppage time. However, Brentford hit right back scoring within the next 2 minutes. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag gave an honest assessment of the match, and stated that the intent to win was just not quite there, and the team needs to do better.
"We didn’t deserve to win,” Ten Hag said, “but if you’re winning you have to take this. I would say normally we are very good in these circumstances."
"We showed resilience all through the game but in points of aggressiveness Brentford were better. We should show more passion and desire at many moments in the game. When you don’t play well you still have to win and we did it almost – that is my big disappointment that we didn’t bring it over the line. There was spirit and there was fight but not enough.”
