Eating in a fine-dining restaurant is an experience in itself, it magnify the eating good food itself.
And amid all the fancies and food, two restaurants from India have taken coveted spots in the World’s 100 Best Restaurants list in 2024.
Mumbai’s fine dining restaurant Masque ranked at #78, becoming the Best Restaurant in India. New Delhi’s Indian Accent stood at #89. Both are new entrants to the list this year.
Notably, both Masque and Indian Accent took top spots in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2024.
Masque in Mumbai, showcases Chef Varun Totlani’s innovative takes on classics. Expect playful reinventions like his “makkai mathri” (corn and hemp seed crisps) with chutneys and charred corn. It should be noted that Masque stood at rank #23 in Asia Best Restaurants list in 2024.
Whereas, Indian Accent in Delhi an acclaimed restaurant by Chef Manish Mehrotra’s is known for its modern interpretations of Indian flavours. Think unusual breads, artfully crafted cornets with spiced fillings, and showstopping mains like tamarind crab with coconut curry.
Indians in abroad are also reaching new heights, as Indian Chef Gaggan Anand’s restaurant in Bangkok, continues to impress, grabbing the ninth position. This was their second consecutive year on the list, climbing up from their #17th spot in the 2023 list. The restaurant was also declared the Best Restaurant in Asia.
Another Indian-cuisine restaurant run by Chef Himanshu Saini maintained its spot on the list. Trèsind Studio ranked at #13, dropped from its #11 rank in 2023, however, retained the title of the Best Restaurant in the Middle East.
