Should be for life, he's a hatemonger, and anybody that still support this clown must be hatemongers too
Facebook has finally come up with a decision regarding former President, Donald J Trump’s Facebook account. They have decided to suspend his account for the next two years. After which, they will assess his activities and conduct in public. If they feel that he is no longer a risk and will not cause the havoc that he did with a social media account, his account will be back.
Nick Clegg, Facebook’s VP of global affairs wrote about the specific guidelines that are now in place regarding the suspension of accounts. This model helps the company in making decisions regarding suspension of Facebook accounts that exhibit inappropriate activity. They will now suspend specific individuals’ accounts anywhere from 1 month to 2 years depending on the severity of threat that the account possess to the Facebook community guidelines. Facebook has launched ‘Heightened Penalties for Public Figures During Times of Civil Unrest and Ongoing Violence’ and Donald Trump’s actions have given him the highest penalty, which is the suspension of his account for 2 years. His account shall also be monitored after this ban has been uplifted. If he violates the company’s guidelines once again, his account could be permanently removed.
This suspension does question the power that these companies hold. As I mentioned before, it is still unclear how far these companies can go and what the governments can actually do to limit such actions. The dependence on such social media giants has led to the power they hold over all of his. In the blog, Nick Clegg also mentioned that this does not stop trump from doing whatever he does outside Facebook. I believe that this is a pretty stupid statement, and that it is obvious that a Facebook ban is not going to stop Trump or any other citizen from voicing their opinion.
