Initiating a 'WAH Mondays' campaign, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India's largest civilian network of research institutions, has enlarged WAH to 'Wrinkles Acche Hai' (wrinkles are nice). The purpose of the initiative is to encourage individuals to protest climate change by wearing unironed clothing to work every Monday.
WAH Mondays are a component of a broader energy literacy programme, according to Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and the first female director general of CSIR. "CSIR made the decision to participate by dressing in non-ironed clothing on Mondays. Every laundry load that is ironed results in 200 g of carbon dioxide emissions. Thus, one can avoid emitting 200 g of carbon dioxide by dressing in non-ironed clothing." she said.
