Tofu Katsu Sushi 🍣
Tofu katsu sushi is like a tasty mix of crunchy tofu and sushi.🤤The tofu is fried until it's crispy, and it goes really well with the soft rice and fresh veggies. It's a yummy and different kind of sushi that you might enjoy!🫶
Tofu Katsu Ingredients:
100gms tofu
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 1 cup panko bread crumbs
Salt and pepper to taste
Sushi Ingredients:
Nori seaweed sheets (Voila)
Sushi rice (Scotti)
Avocado, sliced
Rice vinegar (Sakura)
1tsp sugar
Soy sauce, for dipping (Kikkoman/ lee kum kee)
Pickled ginger and wasabi (S&B wasabi)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Mix the flour, water, salt, and pepper to make a slurry. Dip each tofu slice into the slurry, then coat with panko bread crumbs.
2. Place the coated tofu slices in the air fryer basket. Air fry for about 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the tofu is golden and crispy.
3. Prepare sushi rice according to package instructions and let it cool slightly. Add sugar, salt and rice vinegar and mix gently.
4. Place a nori sheet on a sushi rolling mat. Spread a thin layer of sushi rice evenly over the nori, leaving about half an inch of space at the top.
5. Place slices of avocado and tofu katsu in the center of the rice. Carefully roll the sushi using the mat, applying gentle pressure to shape it.
6. Use a sharp knife to slice the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces. Serve with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi and enjoyyy! 🤤😍
Tips:
-Use high-quality, fresh ingredients.
-Wash sushi rice really well, don't over cook them, each grain should be distinct and intact, without clumping together.
-Make sure your sushi rice is seasoned properly with vinegar, sugar, and salt.
-Keep your hands and utensils moist when handling sushi rice to prevent sticking.
-Use a sharp knife to slice the sushi rolls cleanly.
