Beautiful
It’s been about 9 Years since Manchester United lifted their last league title. Going from an era of their most successful manager ever to an era that is scarce of trophies is one that would shatter the hearts of millions of United fans.
Amidst all the toxicity, and division in the fanbase, I have this hyper unrealistic, yet funny theory about United that correlates pretty much to life in general in a way. It is a theory that United is a cycle of the good and the bad times, that comes full circle occasionally.
(Similar to that 33 Year cycle in the Netflix show “Dark” which very well suits United’s current situation like an endless timeloop)
So many of you might have come across fans on socialmedia who have been supporting the club since the 60s, 70s, 80s, etc. before Fergie's arrival. The common line you’d hear them say is “we’ve stuck with the club through thick & thin, even during times when weren’t as dominant or winning anything as such”.
So, after that period came Fergie, who gave those fans the best time of their lives (At least for the most part of his amazing 27 Year tenure at Utd)
So, I feel like we're back in a time where we won't win stuff consistently for a long while (Not quite literally the 60s, 70s, or 80s but you get what I mean)
As vague or unresearched this might sound, it is how it feels like to me. It is a cycle of good and bad. We’ve had a period of consistent glory and bit of dominance in English football if not in Europe. And now is the phase that is scarce of trophies.
Not saying we'll dominate English football again, but it'll take a long time before we will start winning stuff and challenging for stuff consistently after a couple of years. The current generation of fans who haven’t witnessed United winning & dominating or challenging consistently will have their time and moment very soon.
Maybe after 10 or 20 years? Who knows? But the sun will shine again one day and the cycle will go on
