Here, in India, we pretend that sex does not exists. The fact that we are 1,384,493,422 in number at this moment and goes on increasing every minute does not matter. The fact that India is the second most populated country does not matter. The fact that India’s population equals to the combined populations of USA, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Japan does not matter. But the thing that matters is that we should not talk about sex because that would make us the people of loose morals and we Indians are full of morals that we can never do things to let our country down. NOW WOULD YOU CALL THIS IRONY OR SARCASM ?!!
You would not find a single debate show focusing on this topic, no politician talking or expressing his views about it, no parent discussing it with their children, no school teaching this stuff. Why? Because this would make us dirty :)
Unfortunately, this will not end up the problem, because we are “Indians with great morals” later and humans first. The natural processes associated with humans neither see our nationality nor the environment we live in. However “well-tamed” or aristocratic we maybe, the natural desires would take upon us. And agreed or not, people are interested in sex. This cannot be denied.
Since we avoid talking about sex so much, there are two major problems we face. "One, repressed sexual desires result in heinous crimes. Two, not so big but the daily life issues we face due to lack of discussion.
Repressed sexual desires have been the major reason for child abuse, molestation and rapes. This is the reason man does not differ good and bad. According to the reports given by the high courts to the Supreme Court, one child in every 5 minutes is being sexually abused in India. India records 87 rape cases daily. Every woman in India feels an insecurity being alone. And this shows what repressed desires can make a person do.
Just because it happens behind closed doors does not mean it should not be discussed outside.
Sex is normal. And talking about it is normal too:)
