In an effort to combat malnutrition and diseases like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease in the country, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN) have released dietary guidelines and promoted good eating and lifestyle choices.
In order to prevent obesity, the guidelines place a strong emphasis on adopting a healthy lifestyle and eating a balanced diet. They also stress the importance of getting regular exercise, cutting back on highly processed meals, and reading food labels to make wise and healthful decisions.
The standards state that an individual should have approximately 250 grammes of cereal, 400 grammes of vegetables, 100 grammes of fruits, 85 grammes of pulses, eggs, or flesh meals, 35 grammes of nuts and seeds, and 27 grammes of fat or oils per day in order to consume 2000 kcal, according to ICMR.
