Very interesting take on how the world would function if men were to have periods! A bit far-fetched but a point to ponder on for sure.
Hahah I don’t think this is far fetched, I can imagine it as something that might finally outweigh the prevalence of diet culture
To this day, when I ask for pads or tampons in a shop, I am given a black plastic bag with the ‘necessities’ as if it’s a smuggled body part. Why are other people not supposed to see these things? They’re only taboo because women make up the majority of menstruators.
If cis men had periods...can you even imagine the world this would be?
They would be sat at home for about 7 days of the month each month (you know a period is rarely just three days!), stuffing their face with complimentary company care packages and heating pads, working from home (only if they felt like it, of course). Period pain would never be dismissed as trivial.
And of course, the subject would not be taboo. There would be monthly discussions on every national network about it. People would be well acquainted with all the facts about periods from the time they are toddlers. Nobody would dare to suggest that men are unclean during their period, or that they ought to be banished to a Period Hut.
Shopkeepers would not hand you your period necessities in a shameful black bag ,they would present it to you with a flourish - no actually they wouldn't sell it because IT WOULD BE FREE AND THERE WOULD BE TAMPON + SANITARY NAPKIN+ DIVA CUP DISPENSERS EVERYWHERE!
