SRH VS PBKS HIGHLIGHTS
Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) managed a narrow escape as they beat the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by just two runs at the Maharaja Yadvinder Singh Stadium on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, to claim their first away win and third win in the league.
Chasing 182 to win, Punjab got off to the worst possible start as they lost their first three wickets in the powerplay with only 2o runs on the board. Sikandar Raza (28) and Sam Curran (29) tried their level best to resurrect the innings but failed. However, it was the heroes from Ahmedabad, Shashank Singh and Ahstiush Shram that added an unbeaten 66 off just 27 balls to take Punjab to the brink of yet another outstanding win. However, even that was not enough as they eventually lost by two runs.
Earlier, after Punjab skipper Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and decided to bowl first, the hosts bowled well to get quick wickets, but Player of the Match Nitish Reddy played his ever IPL innings of 63 runs and was supported by Shahbaz Ahmed and Abdul Samad. A six at the last ball by Unadkat would now be considered the biggest moment in the match in retrospect as that took Hyderabad to 181/9 in their 20 overs.
While Ashutosh Sharma was drafted into the playing 11 for Punjab, Hyderabad remained unchanged for this game from their previous outing.
