Security forces achieved a major success in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh on Tuesday morning. In the encounter between police and Naxalites in Gangalur area, the soldiers have so far shot dead nine Naxalites. LMG, launcher and a large quantity of Naxalite material have been recovered from the incident site. It is reported that many sophisticated weapons have been recovered from the spot.Police said that on Monday night, a joint party of DRG, STF, Cobra and CRPF had left for Gangalur area for a search operation. During the operation, around 6 am on Tuesday morning, there was an encounter between the police and Naxalites in Lendra forest of Gangalur police station area. Initially, during this encounter, police personnel killed four Naxalites. From the spot, the soldiers seized the bodies of Naxalites along with one LMG, automatic weapon, BGL launcher and a huge quantity of arms and ammunition of daily use. Police have claimed that many Naxalites have also been injured in the encounter. Search operation is going on in the area. By afternoon the number of Naxalites killed has reached nine.
