The Sporting CP manager has been installed as the frontrunner to replace outgoing Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp this summer, but he strongly refuted claims he has reached a verbal agreement to take up the soon-to-be vacant role at Anfield. While he is focused on leading Sporting to the Liga Portugal title, the 39-year-old admitted what his son's priorities are.
When asked whether the fans would prefer Sporting to be league champions or for him to stay at the club, he replied: "Both! Even my son asks me for both things, but the important thing is for Sporting to be champions. That's what the fans want and that's what we fight for."
The young manager is attracting a growing number of admirers following his work in Portuguese football. He has already won the Taca de Liga multiple times, the Primeira Liga once, and this season they are favourites to win a domestic double, too. Opportunities like Liverpool do not come along very often, so the ex-midfielder has a big decision to make this summer.
