Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the title by defeating Delhi Capitals by eight wickets in the final match of the Women's Premier League (WPL) on Sunday. Delhi won the toss and batted first and scored 113 runs in 18.3 overs. RCB easily achieved the target by losing two wickets in 19.3 overs. This is RCB's first title and they have defeated Delhi at their home. This match was played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Bangalore's men's team has never won the IPL trophy, but the women's team emerged victorious in the second season of the WPL. The special thing is that till now a total of five matches have been played in this league between Delhi and Bangalore and Bangalore won for the first time and that too in a final like match.
Chasing the target of 114 runs, RCB got a good start from Sophie Devine and Smriti Mandhana and both the batsmen added 49 runs for the first wicket. This partnership was broken by Shikha Pandey by dismissing Divine who scored 32 runs. After this, captain Mandhana took over the innings, but Minnu Mani sent her to the pavilion on the score of 31 runs. Then Elise Perry and Richa Ghosh gave the team victory in the last over. Bangalore needed five runs in the last over.
