Rohit Paudel to Lead Nepal Squad at T20 World Cup
Nepal has announced their squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, with Rohit Paudel set to captain the team. Paudel, in excellent form during the ongoing T20 series against West Indies A, will lead a familiar group of players in the tournament to be held in the West Indies and the USA next month.
The experienced squad features key players like Aasif Sheikh, Kushal Bhurtel, Kushal Malla, and Dipendra Singh Airee, who recently made headlines by hitting six sixes in an over during a men's T20I match. Notably, Sandeep Lamichhane, a prominent T20 cricketer from Nepal, is absent from the squad as he is serving a jail sentence for rape.
Nepal's preparatory series against West Indies A has provided valuable insights ahead of the World Cup, despite Nepal being 2-1 down in the series. Paudel's standout performances have been instrumental in Nepal's campaign, including a remarkable 112 off 54 balls in the first game.
Nepal is placed in Group D at the T20 World Cup alongside Bangladesh, Netherlands, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. Their journey begins on June 4 against Netherlands in Dallas.
