The 2014–15 football season marked the 45th in the club's history and the 42nd in France's top division for the Paris Saint-Germain Football Club. The group participated in Ligue 1, the Trophée des Champions, the Coupe de France, the Coupe de la Ligue, and the UEFA Champions League.
There were 20 teams in the league, including the three Ligue 2 teams that had been promoted to take the place of the three Ligue 1 teams who had been demoted after the 2013–14 season. All teams that obtained Ligue 1 status for the season were required to have DNCG clearance before being permitted to take part.
After defeating Auxerre 3-0 at the Stade de l'Abbé-Deschamps, Metz became the first team to be promoted from Ligue 2, following a six-year stint in the lower levels. Following a 2-0 victory over CA Bastia on May 16, 2014, Lens concluded a three-year stint in the second level before advancing back to the top level. Finally, after a 2-2 tie with Dijon on May 16, 2014, Caen made its way back for the first time in two years.
