Jude Bellingham signed for Real Madrid for 100m Euros from Dortmund. While it isn’t surprising that one of the best youngsters in the world is playing for the most decorated European club, Real Madrid have once again proven their capabilities in the transfer market using their pull.
While the English Premier League has its major advantages with the language being more common than Spanish, the huge financial-power, and the subsequent business model, Real Madrid constantly remind the world that they are still the best destination for elite talent and on the other hand, they do not go broke like their fierce rivals.
One of the probable reasons for clubs to swiftly finish deals with Madrid is they tend to overpay for players but they do so in a way that doesn’t burden the club’s finances. Their payment terms are more elongated than the norm which satisfies both the parties involved. The players do not need any introduction to play for a club like Real Madrid. Yes, there are a few failures like the transfer of Eden Hazard, Luke Jovic, etc.. the majority of their big-money transfers work because of the already elite-winning mentality at the club that was set in the early 2010s.
Real Madrid also do not go on a spending spree every year but because of their strong scouting network in Brazil, they also unearth gems who turn out to be a success(Valverde, Rodrygo, Vinicius, etc.). The Premier League teams might think they have an upper hand in getting the best players and the best coaches possible but Real Madrid just made an Englishman prefer the Spanish League over his country’s leagues and that is a sucker punch from Madrid. There are no two ways about this.
