At 82, Bajaj Auto Chairman Rahul Bajaj steps down as the chairman citing his age. He will resume the role of chairman emeritus from 1st May, 2021.
The 82 year old had brought the Chetak Scooter to India and scaled Bajaj Auto to become one of the largest two-wheeler makers in India.
His tenure ended on March 31, 2020 and was then appointed as non-executive Chairman.
He will be succeeded by is cousin Niraj Bajaj, a cloae confidant of the group patriarch. Rahul Bajaj has made a huge contribution to the success of the company in the past five decades.
To continue to benefit from his experience, knowledge and wisdom, the BOD recommended his nomination and it has been approved by the Remuneration Committee to appoint Rahul Bajaj as Chairman Emeritus of the company for a period of five years starting from 1 May, 2021.
