Thankyou for sharing this and Welcom to Pixstory!😊
My first keyboard was a Casio with 32 keys! Learnt the basics on that and ultimately upgraded to a bigger Casio a year later. Played that for 3-4 years after that before ultimately picking up the guitar!
Questions About Learning Piano
I want to learn piano. What type of keyboard should I buy?
This is a common question. And there are many piano and keyboard options to choose from. I always tell people not to buy an expensive piano. Learning is always more difficult than it seems. Buy an electronic keyboard within the $200 to $300 range. You may play with the keyboard for a while and then lose interest. Or, you may play it from time to time for fun. That's fine. The price of the keyboard will not keep you interested. It's the playing and if you find it to be fun that will. So, limit your investment in case the piano is not the instrument for you.
I also like the idea of an electronic keyboard at least initially because it has a headphone jack. You may be self-conscious at first so the headphone gives you privacy. And yes, it gives your family "peace" of mind.
A better instrument will make me a better player.
No, it will not. My dad did photography and he taught me that the photographer takes the photograph, not the camera. It’s you, not the instrument. So, if you make mistakes when you play songs on an inexpensive keyboard, you'll still make the same mistakes playing the more expensive keyboard. Your mistakes will have the richness of tone that your expensive piano offers you, but they are still mistakes.
