President Draupadi Murmu honored two eminent personalities with Padma Shri in New Delhi on Monday. Banaras Gharana classical singer Surendra Mohan Mishra has been awarded Padmashree posthumously. Ramendra Mishra, son of late Surendra Mohan Mishra, received the honor at the ceremony organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Surendra has received this honor for his contribution to classical music. He served Indian classical music for a long time. He was associated with both singing and playing.Godavari Singh of Banaras was also given Padma Shri. He has received this award for his remarkable contribution in the manufacturing of wooden toys. He is also called Toy King. Godavari Singh's family has been making wooden toys for five generations.
