Continuation with the previous story.. It becomes imperative to again re emphasis on the importance of mountains, cause this is the only way we can value our mountains
India's largest mountain range, the Himalayas, is an irrefutable proof of this. Millions of people depend on these ecosystems. Simply focusing on conservation is not enough. Natural restoration is also highly desirable. Nearly 33% of the country's thermal power and 52% of its national hydropower depend on river water originating in the Himalayas. These rivers receive a significant portion of the water as the glaciers melt, making them an integral part of India's energy security.
The Himalayas play an important role during the rainy season. In summer, the Tibetan Plateau heats up, forming a cyclone, and southwest monsoon winds blow into the Indian subcontinent.
