Poti is a city in Georgia located on the Black Sea coast at the mouth of the Rioni River and on the site of the ancient Greek colony of Phasis. The city is known for its modern architecture, Old Town, produce market, aerial cableway, urban hikes, and access to some of Western Georgia's best national parks. One of the most popular attractions in Poti is the Poti Lighthouse, which was inaugurated in 1864 as the first navigational facility of its kind in Georgia. Visitors can climb the candy-striped steps of the lighthouse for a panoramic view of the sea and the city. Poti is also home to Georgia's deepest sea port and is connected to Tbilisi by Georgia's oldest railway line. The city is pancake flat, so visitors can see all the way down to Kolkheti National Park, an incredible landscape that offers boat trips along the Pallastomi Lake and the marshy wetlands. Poti is a fascinating and underrated city that offers visitors a unique and authentic Georgian experience.
