Portugal VS Ghana
It was heartbreak for Ghana yesterday as although they became the first African team to score, they missed a golden opportunity to grab a point at the end of the game as Inaki Williams slipped up at the chance to score into an open net. Portugal started the game well, dominating most of the game and Ronaldo even put the ball in the net with an excellent finish but it was ruled out by a (soft) foul. In the 65th minute however you could say they got repayed as they was given a soft penalty and CR7 converted from the spot to make himself the first player to score in 5 world cups. Ghana equalised against the run of lay with Ayew who shot from close range. Then it was a disaster 3 minutes as Leao and Felix looked to put the game to bed with 2 good goals. Bukari headed the ball into an open net in the 89th minute then proceeded to do Ronaldo’s iconic celebration in front of his face despite them being 3-2 down. This result puts Portugal top of the group ahead of their tough game to Uruguay next Monday. Ghana should not be put down by this result and they should kick on and try to aim for that second place spot in the group.
Bruno Fernandes is my MOTM, he pulled the strings in the midfield and made some wonderful through balls what setup the 2nd and 3rd goal.
