Most people playing contact sports can get CTE as it is caused by repeated head injuries leading to progressive memory loss and other brain skills.
High-impact sports, such as soccer, football, boxing, and hockey, can lead to the development of CTE. For example, tackling in football, hitting the head on the ice in hockey, and hitting the ground or another person's head in soccer can all lead to head trauma and result in CTE if not appropriately treated.
Although some protective gear has been created for sports, such as football and hockey, players are still susceptible to CTE. As a result, sports administrators have added padding to arenas and courts to prevent head injuries.
Additionally, coaches have emphasized good sportsmanship and proper techniques to avoid head injuries.
"A 2019 study of concussion trends in 20 U.S. high school sports found that most concussions were caused by contact with: another person (62%), a surface (17%), equipment (15%)."
Research has shown the presence of CTE in most sports players as there's no other way to get repeated head injuries.
