Prayers with Kashmir
There's a saying in Kashmiri :
Pilaeye nai tae tchokae gaem.
When I can't reach them. That mean they have turned sour.
It's a synonym of, Grapes are sour.
No representation for Kashmir and Kashmiri Government is talking about return of pandits on one hand ( which is a welcome move) and Gujjar upliftment on the other hand . No one is talking about Kashmiris . Now government is planning to review all the deals of pandit property- atleast 98 percent deals were genuine . That’s why common Kashmiri is feeling disillusioned , pushed to the wall, as no one seems to be talking about them. They have no representation, nowhere to go.
Revival of grassroot democracy
The only way out of this is revival of grassroot democracy. Central Government needs to hold election and restore statehood or vice versa .
People say UT Chief minister has no power, fine but atleast people will know where to go for redressal of their problems.
Those ruling Jammu and Kashmir have to have deep knowledge of the place it’s people.
Officers and administrators are being parachuted who look at everyone from the prism of corruption as if everyone in Kashmir is corrupt.
Have to own Kashmir
Kashmiri inspite of this atmosphere of helplessness is willing to own India, and has done that in a silent way. But they ( government of India)have to own us as well. Kashmiri feel they are not being heard , it will only alienate them further . They are keenly looking towards both Prime Minister and Home Minister as they are the only people who have capacity to redress and address the problems in Jammu and Kashmir. Actually the feeling is same in Jammu as well- the people of Jammu are also feeling alienated .
What was promised from the the floor of parliament needs to be delivered .
It’s not a war against people and no one can win war against their own people.
It shouldn’t seem like you are fighting 80 lakh people of Kashmir. You have to win over the 80 lakh people .
