Palace's simple yet effective recruitment deserves more plaudits
The likes of Brighton get a lot of attention for their recruitment and deservedly so but it's time for Crystal Palace to get their plaudits too.
Palace's recruitment policy for the most part is largely simple - sign the best the Championship has to offer.
Eberechi Eze was signed in 2020 following a season in the second division with QPR where he contributed to 22 goals. Michael Olise was signed just a year later from Reading after 21 goal contributions in 20/21 season of the Championship. Marc Guehi also joined in the same year on the back of an excellent season with Swansea.
Palace look like they have repeated the trick this January with midfielder Adam Wharton. He has come in and bossed games against Manchester City, United and Liverpool.
All of these players are in their early 20s and have great resale value, which would allow Palace to repeat the trick.
