Over the past centuries, Kishangarh remained a hub for different kinds of business, until recently when its popularity among the largest marble market has been emerging in India. Now, a drive through Kishangarh consists of shops lined up displaying stacks of marble. The town's claims to fame are something completely unusual. With all the cutting of marble that goes on in Kishangarh, the locals were starting to face rising problems of accumulated waste. Resulting, the local association along with various governing bodies came together in 2005 as a well-developed area for disposing of the marble slurry properly.
Once the designated land for dumping was ready, there are 50-60 feet deep wells were dug to pour in the slush. Since then there was so much waste, eventually, this led to a formation of a plateau that over time become a famous tourist attraction in Rajasthan "Dumping Yard Kishangarh".
The slurry from all marble cutting was created in a landfill that is now a vast stretch of white sand. It acts as the perfect backdrop for fashion shoots, video shoots, photography, and in some cases substitutes snow when the low-budget films are produced. Many Bollywood, Bhojpuri, and Punjabi music videos, movie shootings take place here.
The picturesque white stretch of marble slurry, Dumping Yard in Kishangarh is not just a nature's creation but a human-made art. In 2005, RICCO and Kishangarh marble association decided to put the marble slurry in one place and developed a disposing area. 50-60 feet deep wells were dug to pour the waste but then the dumping area turns out to be a plateaue looking like white hills and mountains covered with snow. The yard is dencely covered in and around 332 bigha land and required a long time to get completed divided into three parts. The second one was completed in 2009 by Cluster Project and completed in the year 2015 with a total cost of around Rs 2-50 cr.
