On Friday, 61 percent voting took place on eight seats in the first phase in Uttar Pradesh. The election was completely peaceful. The highest turnout of 68.94 percent took place in Saharanpur, while Rampur lagged behind with 55.75 percent turnout. Compared to the year 2019, about 5.5 percent less votes were cast on these seats in the first phase. Due to relatively low turnout, confusion among political parties regarding the results has also increased. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa said that in the first phase of the state, voting was completed peacefully on Friday in 8 Lok Sabha constituencies Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Nagina Su, Moradabad, Rampur and Pilibhit. Voting started at 7 am and when it ended even after 6 pm, there were queues at all the polling places.
