Not sure if you suffer from childhood trauma? Try this experiment with me. Think your parents' relationship, really think about it. Assess what it was like, what you saw, and now imagine yourself in a relationship similar to your parents'. How does it make you feel that your parents ignore each other and live almost separate lives? Maybe you felt ignored. Did they fight a lot? Maybe you felt unsafe. Who was more controlling? Who was more submissive? All of these are signs of unresolved childhood trauma. Because if your parents acted like this, there's a good chance they projected it onto you.
Constantly being around unhappy, stressed-out parents has a negative impact on any child and has a direct impact on the quality of relationships you will find yourself in later in life.
The good news is that this can be healed through proper awareness, love and self-care. Or a therapist.
