• Word - Circumscription
• Phonetic transcription - sə́ːkəmsgrɪ́pʃən
• Meaning - The practice of Circumscription comes from the figurative understanding of drawing a line around something which in this case, most accurately talks about drawing a line around one's freedom of action so that the individual is duly restricted, limited, or hemmed in by certain limiting beliefs of self, or rules and regulations posed by others on them or is unfortunately living a life that revolves around poverty, or parental injunctions or overactive conscience or have their actions circumscribed by legal restraints.
• An example of usage -
Ms. Chandra recently came to know how one of her student's life has mostly been circumscribed by poverty and due to which she hasn't been able to aim for the popular universities for admission this time even after being a really bright student.
• How does this word sounds like to me -
To me this word, when i came across it for the very first time, sounded like a practice, a very scientific approach to achieve something with maximum precision and accuracy. Almost like studying Geometry in my Mathematic classes back in school where measurements had to be taken to get the accurate results or else we had to face those literal 'red circumscriptions' around the areas where the measurements used to go wrong.
Hehe. That's all for today!
See you again, with a new word soon.
