New faces in Argentina squad as World Cup winners return
The team that won the World Cup in Qatar will always be a part of Argentine folklore now, but manager Lionel Scaloni has decided to try some new players this time as Argentina return to action for the first time since then.
These players are - Facundo Buonanotte, Maximo Perrone, Lautaro Blanco and Valentin Carboni.
Perrone, 20, signed for Manchester City from Velez Sarsfield this January. He is a central midfielder by trade and can play deeper too. In theory he can step in for all 3 of De Paul, Enzo Fernandez and MacAllister. Perhaps the biggest thing one needs to know about Perrone's talent is that Pep Guardiola really rates him.
Buonanotte is 18 and moved to Brighton in January from Rosario Central. Brighton have a knack of identifying quality and this diminutive playmaker is next in line. If called upon, he will probably play in place of Messi or MacAllister.
Carboni is an 18 year old from Inter Milan's academy. He plays ideally just behind the striker but can play multiple roles in attack. He has made a few appearances for the Inter first team this season too. Him and his brother Franco are also eligible for Italy.
Lautaro Blanco at 24 is the oldest of this lot. He was a very highly rated left-back in Argentina playing for Rosario Central. He moved to La Liga's bottom club Elche at the start of this year.
Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho had also been called up but subsequently picked up an injury.
