So true
The majority of us do not have the
privilege of gazing out our windows at magnificent ancient trees. The elderly are unable to walk in the nearby lush
parks. We also don't let them walk
along the colony's relatively congested roadways for fear of infection. The
consequences for them and others
can't be good. Even if it is nice, living
in a concrete cube deprives us of many parts of life. Omicron has swooped
upon us just as we believed Covid-19 was going to become endemic and
we'd be back to normal by 2022. Many more events may cause us to stay at
home in the future. What role do
environmental standards play in this?
Quite a bit, actually.
Being able to enjoy nature, even in semi-seclusion, is a key factor in achieving happiness.
Several studies have found direct relationships between mental health and access to green spaces.
To modify the sensation of being stuck at home, we must rethink our cities so that we may maintain trees, improve parks, and create more lush green
spaces.
In troubled times, simple greenery can be a powerful ally.
It must be nurtured and resurrected immediately.
