After the news of the resignation of Afghanistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ghulam Muhammad Ishaqzai went viral. As a result, Afghanistan's permanent mission in the UN has announced that Naseer Ahmad Faiq has replaced Ishaqzai.
Afghanistan's permanent mission has recently sent a letter to the UN introducing Naseer Ahmad Faiq as Charge' Da Affair of the country's permanent representative to the UN.
In a press statement of the mission, it has been said that the permanent mission will continue its efforts to work closely with all member states and UN authorities to address the ongoing dire humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and to ensure the fundamental human rights of all Afghans, including women, girls, and ethnic minorities.
"The mobilization and facilitation of humanitarian assistance and effective aid delivery to groups and vulnerable situations suffering from starvation and food insecurity in the freezing winter season are among the most urgent priorities requiring immediate attention." Reads the statement.
Earlier, the UN accreditation committee had confirmed Ghulam Muhammad Ishaqzai as Afghanistan's permanent representative to the UN, and before that Taliban's participation was delayed at least for two years.
The Taliban had nominated Suhail Shaheen as their permanent representative to the UN.
