Mumbai Indians have achieved their first win of this season.  In the 20th match of IPL 2024, Mumbai defeated Delhi Capitals by 29 runs.  Batting first after losing the toss, Mumbai scored 234 runs losing five wickets in 20 overs.  At one time Mumbai's score was 167 runs for four wickets in 17 overs.  After this, thanks to the stormy batting of Tim David and Romario Shepherd in the death overs, Mumbai was able to reach such a huge score.Mumbai scored 96 runs in the last five overs.  Romario Shepherd scored 32 runs in the 20th over of Anrich Nortje which became the reason for the defeat for Delhi.  Chasing the huge target of 235 runs, Delhi team could score only 205 runs after losing eight wickets in 20 overs.  Till the 19th over, Delhi had scored 201 runs, while Mumbai had scored 202 runs.  Shepherd's 32 runs proved to be decisive.

With the fourth defeat in five matches, Delhi team has fallen to the bottom 10th position in the points table.  At the same time, after registering the first win after losing three consecutive matches, Mumbai team has reached eighth place.  Delhi's next match is against Lucknow Super Giants on April 12 at Ekana.  At the same time, Mumbai team will face Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 11 at Wankhede.
