Men watch women, women don't watch men, women watch other women.
Isn't it super interesting? Like, guys actually can't help themselves, like for example, they'll be walking down the street and when a woman passes by, they'll break their neck to just get a glimpse of her.
But women do not treat men in the same way. Women, on the other hand, are much more likely to look at other women. Like, if you were walking down the street and saw a couple with the woman holding the man's hand and if you come across another woman, she will be checking out the woman rather than the guy. Women check out each other. But why are they doing this? The art critic John Berger has a great line. "Men watch women, women watch themselves being looked at."
And isn't it a fascinating concept? Because women are aware that they are the targets of the so-called male gaze, so they judge and look at other women to see how they are perceived in order to see themselves.
