The headline says it all. Like the old days of aaya ram, gaya ram
One of the working presidents of the Himachal Pradesh Congress, Pawan Kajal, is all set to jump ship. He is likely to join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) soon.
Elected from Kangra assembly constituency on a BJP ticket in 2012, Kajal joined the Congress, which was then ruling Himachal Pradesh, in 2017 just ahead of the polls in the hills state.
Though Kajal retained his seat, the Congress went on to lose the elections.
Now, when the pollsters are giving the Congress a strong chance to come back to power, Kajal is quitting it to rejoin the BJP.
Many in the Himachal political circles describe Kajal as the opposite of late Dalit leader, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) founder and former union minister Ram Vilas Paswan who Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad once called 'mausam vigyanak (weather scientist) of Indian politics)'for his ability to read the political winds and go with the winning side.
Some even suggested that he is like Swamy Prasad Maurya who quit the BJP to join the Samajwadi Party (SP) barely few weeks ahead of the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh earlier this year.
The BJP went on to retain power in the country's politically important and most populous state.
