As Covid vaccinations roll out, Lollapalooza, Chicago’s iconic annual music festival, returns this summer.
A full Covid vaccination or negative Covid test will be required to attend. The festival will be at total capacity, and in 2019 it drew over 400,000 people to the park over four days. How attendees will prove they’re vaccinated is still in the works but might involve an app or physical proof of vaccination. The city hopes the festival will encourage more people to get vaccinated.
The festival will not be taking any liability for attendees who contract Covid. Coronavirus-specific liability clauses appear in the guidelines protecting against any scenario where you could sue them for a post-concert Covid positive test. Other concerts returning this summer have similar restrictions.
Does the return of festivals mean we’ve finally reached the new normal? Or are festivals like Lolla too quick to return? Will they require masks? These are the questions that will be answered in the summer months.
